Keep on it! It is worth the sweat. I started going to the gym some years back. I am not religious when it comes to the work out, but I must say that over the years I feel so much better and have so much more energy.
Good luck with the new trainer.

Thank you Philip. I like working out ... it's the food part that I really don't do very good with. Thanks again for the encouragement.

Awesome. I have been much more into health and fitness the past five or so years than any other time in my life. Now, I just have to quit yo-yo'ing on my diety. Prayers would be appreciated.

Okay, I do fabulous with watching what I eat (portions, protein/carb/fat content, etc.) and despise exercise. I was gonna say struggle with exercise, but that would imply I AM exercising. And I'm not. I have and will again. But right now I'm not. still.

So, I'm going to encourage you to keep making healthy choices (but not the frozen meals with the same name!) about your food, and to celebrate the variety of flavor and texture you can enjoy while eating healthily. . . and you can nag at me to ride my exercise bike and do set/rep work for overall strength/flexibility. Ick.

Congratulations on starting when you're so young! I didn't make the decision to be a healthy old person until I was 50! I'm still not where I want to be, but I am much closer than I was 3.75 yrs. ago! Yay for Randy!
  • Randy Thomas · 6 months ago
so... did you ride your exercise bike yet? You said I could nag you. It's not often you get permission to nag :).

thanks for being a cheerleader :)

    Happy birthday, Randog!

"Nothing like outside objectivity to help reveal a previously unknown strength." *Very* good point. Preach it brother!

Are you sure it’s "Randog" and not "Randawg"? :-)

Good luck on your fitness quest. I truly believe that we must treat our mortal bodies with the respect and dignity of worthy of God’s having created us in His image. Our bodies truly are our earthly temples.

    In Peace,

    Peter

Um, no. BUT I did go look at it ::sheepish grin:: and discovered the miles/calories display thing needs batteries. I couldn't ride if I didn't know how long, how far & how many calories burned on the ride. Obviously. Ha. And I did tell my dh to remind me to get in there & ride, even though I will glare, or roll my eyes, at him when he does. I also found my hand weights so I can do strength work, too. I'm going to start with 15 min. on the bike, and then weight work (circuit training style) for another 20. Sigh. I am. Really, I am.
Nag away! Accountability is a good thing! : )

I don’t know how you drive home afterwards. Why can’t you eat by following portion controls and checking calories? Your going to want to keep this up for life, right? If I had to hire that man now, I’m older than you, I’d be in my grave. The flesh is weak but the body can be even weaker.

I am eating healthy portions, calorie/fat/goodfat/carbs conscious and more. He is also teaching me about all of this so I will be able to do it for the rest of my life.

have you tried tripoding? Use a weight bar as a tripod/something to help you balance. I’ve got FMS, so I find some exercises difficult and need to do them differently. Stand the weight bar on its side so you are holding it vertically, and lunge with the opposite leg. I think. Try the other leg if you go all wobbly to the side! Unless you’re lunging with the weight bar over your shoulders? If that is the case, then no one can help you…. mwah ha ha haaaa… except you! God bless you, matey -x-

Hey, Randog (name I will use when any exercise post appears) Your experience brings back memories when I joined a health club shortly after accepting Christ as my Savior. My trainer had pushed me very hard, and the pleaser that I am, I kept pushing to the edge. After the session was over, I went back to the locker room and began having a tremendous headache that became worse by the minute. I was laying on a bench in the locker room. And suddenly I was prompted by an inner voice to pray for the headache to be gone. I kept ignoring the voice’s prompting(why I did I don’t really know)but then I finally said ok. I will pray. The headache and all distress vanished immediately.I thought, "Wow, God did this!" I think that was probably the first time that I realized that God works in the small things as well as the large. That was nearly 27 years ago, and I have not forgotten that lesson.

Hey Richard! I’m glad to see someone older than I making posts on this site lol I’m 57 but feel like 24 :) So do you live in Nashville?, Las Vegas?, neither? My brother has a home in Summerlin, a suburb of Las Vegas. And Nashville is one of my favorite cities to visit. I have enjoyed reading your posts!

Hey, Richard! I have always liked Nashville. It still has a small town atmosphere to it. And I really like the Tracz trail. I drove by Amy Grant’s home in Franklin one time when I was there–not ostentatious at all and such a pretty area. I live in Tucson, Arizona. We still have wildlife–deer, javelinas(wild boars), with an occasional bear or mountain lion. I do enjoy Nashville’s greenery though :)
